A BOUNTIFUL CHRISTMAS – A SYMBOL OF HOPE AND POSITIVITY

A BOUNTIFUL CHRISTMAS – A SYMBOL OF HOPE AND POSITIVITY

Manila, Philippines – November 2022 – The Philippines is known for observing the longest Christmas celebration. Once the “ber” months kick in, one can expect Christmas songs heard over the radio and commercial establishments already dressing up their window displays with the festive Holiday atmosphere.

Renowned establishment Century Park Hotel (CPH) recently launched its version of the Yuletide season with its Annual Christmas Tree Lighting which showcased “A Bountiful Christmas” theme.  The stunning 25 ft. tree at the Atrium Lounge was the star of the show with its warm colors of bronze, copper, tangerine, gold, and greens.  The warm, earthy palette is symbolic of lasting hope and positivity amidst the ongoing pandemic.

The guests’ faces were all aglow with wonder and excitement during the countdown.  Dr. Lucio Tan and his family, the owners of Century Park Hotel, officiated the lighting of the Christmas tree.

“We are pleased to hold our Annual Christmas Tree Lighting once again which is undoubtedly one of the most-anticipated events at Century Park Hotel.  After a 2-year hiatus, we are glad to see old and new friends alike and share the joy of the season with them.  The pandemic has been challenging for everyone and we are grateful to our guests, media & blogger networks, and loyal patrons for giving us the privilege of serving them with our own unique brand of Filipino hospitality in spite of the unusual times.  We have thrived because of their trust and confidence,” said CPH General Manager Anthony Tan.   “Aside from the tree lighting, we will also roll out several Christmas and last quarter promos in the days to come,” he further added.

Incidentally, the hotel also launched its line of Christmas hampers starting from P3,500net.  Guests can have a convenient time shopping for their loved ones with CPH’s array of pastries, delicatessen and wines.  For advanced orders, call 0917 528 8888.

YES TO CHURRASCO, PLEASE!

YES TO CHURRASCO, PLEASE!

Century Park Hotel Levels Up the Buffet Dining Experience

With the IATF Alert Level easing up in Metro Manila, hotel and restaurant buffets have been making a comeback. While some customers may have second thoughts about dining-in, an establishment’s safety protocols and DOT Safety Seal in place are enough assurances for guests that they can dine safely and dine well.  Indeed, foodies are raring to conquer the restaurant scene again.

Century Park Hotel, one of the finest hotels in Manila, has always been known for its lunch and dinner buffets.  Its generous array of appetizers, mains, and desserts are sought-after.   Each day of the week showcased a specific theme: Filipino, Western and Chinese to name a few. Prior to the pandemic, its Seafood and Prime Rib Buffet was gaining steam.  Things took a standstill when the lockdown was imposed and outlet operations were put on hold. This did not deter the hotel from rising to the occasion and prepared instead for a remarkable comeback.

“The challenge was not just to bring back our popular buffet but to create a better and more pleasant dining experience.  The pandemic has been an opportunity for us to reassess what we have and introduce a mix of the tried & tested together with a new concept to our buffet offering,” said Anthony Tan, Century Park Hotel’s General Manager.

Head out to Century Park Hotel and be sure to try the Lunch and Dinner Churrasco Buffet.
Due to insistent demand, what was initially a 2-day run per week (lunch only) is now a regular 3-day operation (Wednesday to Friday) and now serves Lunch (11:00 AM – 2:30 PM) AND Dinner (6:00 PM – 10:00 PM) as well.

“The high turnout of our reservations, as well as walk-in volume, prompted us to increase our operational times. Guests have been clamoring for our buffet for quite some time now and we are truly happy with the feedback,” added Mr. Tan.

Priced at P1,200 net per head, one can enjoy a wide selection of meats (beef, chicken, pork and sausages), an assortment of dishes (ratatouille, pasta, salmon, etc.) and an array of delectable desserts (pastries, iced desserts and more).  The meats are smoked and charcoal-grilled to perfection to produce more delicious flavors.

What makes churrasco special? Also known as Brazilian barbecue, 19th century horseback riders or gauchos who lived in rural areas had easy access to cattle.  They would roast the beef on skewers over an open fire which brought out the natural flavor of the mouthwatering meat.

Churrasco is traditionally enjoyed with a big number of people, gauchos would go around the tables where their friends and family are gathered, serving unlimited slabs of beef from the skewers.  This style of serving is called rodizio.

Nowadays, restaurant staff continuously go around the tables with their skewers and serve the diners when they see the green marker which means the guest wants more servings.  Once the marker is flipped on the red side, this is an indicator that the guest has already had his/her fill. A variety of sauces like chimichurri, peri-peri and salsa verde together with side dishes help enhance the taste of the meats.

“At Century Park Hotel, guests can have their meats served ala-rodizio.  Other dishes are placed on the buffet spread where diners are free to help themselves.  This is what makes our Churrasco Buffet one-of-a-kind,” emphasized Mr. Tan.

Experience the Churrasco Buffet first hand at Café in the Park.  The first 10 reservations will get a P200 off.  Call 0917-6332497 now to make your reservation.

Century Park Hotel has been duly awarded the Safety Seal Certification and Certificate of Accommodation to Operate as Staycation (CAOS) by the Department of Tourism (DOT) and Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ).  One can look forward to a safe and pleasant dining atmosphere while inside the property.

Guests 18 and up must be fully vaccinated and present their vaccination cards, minors are allowed entry provided they are accompanied by a fully-vaccinated adult.

This blowout will not be complete without the Gentleman’s Cake, a special chiffon dessert infused with Kahlua, walnuts, chocolate ganache and a miniature bottle of Chivas Regal Whisky on the top. The Man of the Hour will surely be impressed with these delectable treats.

This offer is available for takeout and delivery, kindly book in advance by sending a text or Viber message to 0917-6332497.  Transactions can be made through our Paypal account at payments@centurypark.com.ph or cash payment / bank transfer to PNB (1702 7000 1013) or BDO (0044 7000 0100).  Send your proof of payment to the Viber number afterwards and advise of the pick-up time and date (June 19 – 20 only from 10:00AM to 4:00PM).  For home delivery, you may arrange for Grab, Lalamove or other delivery services.  Transport fees will be shouldered by the customer.

Century Park Hotel Looks Back At Four Fondest Memories As It Celebrates Its 44th Anniversary

Century Park Hotel Looks Back At Four Fondest Memories As It Celebrates Its 44th Anniversary

2020 has been a tough year for all of us with the pandemic that is still going on, turning everyone’s lives upside down. Despite the predicament that we are facing, Filipinos still manifest that unrelenting spirit of resilience and optimism. Upholding these values, Century Park Hotel Manila (CPH) commemorates its 44th anniversary this year with a hopeful heart that in no time, these four fondest and sublime moments will all take shape again.

Narrowing down the list to only four was extremely hard since all those years were replete with countless memories that made the hotel a hive of joyful activities and life milestones.  We would have wanted to spend this special occasion with you since we already miss the warmth of your presence and the pleasure of socializing but for now, let us take you to a trip down memory lane.

1. Christmas Tree Lighting

It is that time of the year again! The lighting of the Giant Christmas Tree at the Atrium Lounge has been a tradition at the hotel for a long time. This magical ceremony led by the owner Dr. Lucio Tan and his wife Carmen Tan has been highly anticipated every year not only by its employees but also by every hotel goer.

The fabulous ornaments and decorations all over this masterpiece evoke that happy yuletide feeling making the Atrium Lounge ideal for merrymaking during this season. Being a feast on the eyes, every guest just loves taking photos with this magnificent creation in the background. It is no wonder why our Instagram bursts with notifications and tags during this time.

2. Wedding, Birthday Celebrations and Other Events

For a lot of couples, Century Park Hotel was where their road to forever started off. With 14 fabulously-appointed function rooms, CPH has been a witness to colorful and significant life events through the years. With the classy setup of the hotel’s venues adorned further by the stylists, every occasion is truly one for the books.

Birthdays are always a blast at Century Park Hotel with all the exciting deals and offerings at the hotel’s dining outlets every year. In fact, even the very dynamic Yorme Francisco Isko Moreno once paid a visit at the hotel to celebrate his special day.

This month of September could have also been the commencement of the annual Miss Earth pageant. In the past three years, the hotel has been a home to some of the Earth warriors from all over the world and hosted some of the major activities of the pageant such as the National Costume Presentation. Nothing is as grand as seeing these ladies showing off so much glamor but at the same time gathering for a great cause.

3. Staycations and Recreations

Our doors are still closed for staycations and we cannot help but reminisce those days when we welcome you at the reception with beaming smiles. Century Park Hotel is known for its excellent service that is true to the brand of Filipino hospitality. A lot of guests, both local and foreign, already fell in love with the hotel’s cozy atmosphere and the warm accommodation of our staff. It gets them coming back.

Leisurely activities are also part of the package. The pool and jacuzzi in the hotel have been the go-to spot of stay-in guests where they can have a quick getaway at the heart of the city. We also feel energized as we think back to those workouts and fun exercises you enjoyed doing at our Fitness Center.

With the inquiries we have been receiving, we know that you already miss the relaxing and leisurely staycations. Hang on tight as we prepare a hotel experience that is attuned to the new normal.

4. Limitless Food Options

Four dining outlets each with something unique to offer made Century Park Hotel a culinary haven for all foodies over the years. For Japanese food cravings, there is nowhere to go but Century Tsukiji Restaurant known for serving award-winning cuisines and delectable inventions. To satisfy your sweet tooth, the Deli Snack has been concocting the best breads, cakes and pastries in town.

Good times never stop at the hotel’s Atrium Lounge with its lineup of classic cocktails, beverages and other scrumptious bites. Who will even forget the savory platters of meat and other luscious cuisines at the Cafe in the Park?

For now, you may enjoy your classic favorites at the Atrium Lounge as well as avail of our Food On-The-Go selections at bit.ly/CPHMenu but soon enough, there will be more on the table.

Five Comfort Foods From Century Park Hotel to Get You Going For The Rainy Days

Five Comfort Foods From Century Park Hotel to Get You Going For The Rainy Days

The wet season can really dampen one’s spirit. Since most of us are still working from home and attending classes online, it feels extra hard to be productive with the gloomy atmosphere and the cold bed weather.

To beat the monsoon blues and get that much-needed boost, try these five dishes you can order from Century Park Hotel Manila:

Bulalo

Every Filipino family loves to share a bowl of hot beef or pork shank soup in the middle of a cold, heavy downpour. Bulalo is best enjoyed when its meat has been simmered very well to bring out its flavor and served with nutritious greens such as cabbage and Bagui beans. Tenderizing the meat takes quite long but as what they say, the best ingredient is time and patience.

Sinigang

The lingering sour taste of this dish makes us drool especially this wet season. Whether it comes with pork, prawns or salmon fish, sinigang’s tamarind-based soup rouses the senses and boosts the appetite. With a little spice added to it for that extra kick, it will keep you warm despite the cold weather.

Ramen

Rainy season is the perfect occasion to enjoy an oishi bowl of ramen. Not only is this dish a hit in Asia but also in the whole world because of its flavorful broth made from a variety of ingredients such as chicken or pork bones. Its filling noodles makes it extra special. Normally complemented with tamago, cuts of chicken, beef or pork, nori, scallions and others vegetables, one serving of ramen is already a feast for the taste buds.

Mushroom Soup

A bowl of hot and steamy mushroom soup is truly a bed weather pleasure. Its creaminess, aroma and the tender bites of the mushrooms makes for a delectable mood-booster. Other recipes you can choose from are crab & sweet corn soup and pumpkin soup. Enjoy these dishes all the more when paired with delicious bread from the Deli Snack.

Arroz Caldo

On cold mornings or afternoons, arroz caldo is everybody’s go-to snack. A dish as unassuming as this can carry you through the monsoon blues. The ginger completes the full-bodied taste and leaves you wanting for more. Filipinos love to eat this comfort food with slices of chicken, pork and boiled egg.  It is then garnished with a zest of kalamansi and fried garlic bits.

Get a taste of how these comfort foods are prepared by award-winning chefs. Contact Century Park Hotel Manila at 8528-5855 or 0917-633-2497, via SMS or Viber to order.

Get to know: Tinghun, The Filipino – Chinese Engagement

Get to know: Tinghun, The Filipino – Chinese Engagement

Before tying the knot, Filipino couples practice “pamamanhikan”, where the groom formally asks the hand of the woman for marriage, to bring both the man and the woman’s families closer. Interestingly, a great number of Filipino – Chinese immigrants staying in the country also have a similar engagement tradition called Tinghun.

Tinghun Rituals

Tinghuns are commonly known for the unique and traditional rituals presented during the ceremony. One of the first rituals practiced is the walking of the bride backwards when entering the place where the event is held. This is to prevent the bride from seeing the groom immediately and to avoid negative energy.

The backward walk is followed by another ritual, where a married woman with a wealthy and healthy family, whom the bride should see as a role model, turns the bride three times until she is allowed to meet the groom.

After the entrance, the ceremonial serving of the drink happens. The drink, which symbolizes happiness and good luck, is served from the eldest to the youngest members of the family, while the soon-to-be married couple is served last. Sweet tea soup, which signifies harmony, is also served to the entourage.

Symbolic Exchange of Gifts

Aside from the rituals, Tinghuns are also renowned for their extravagant exchange of gifts from the groom and the bride’s respective families. It is common to exchange jewelries and expensive watches between families, but there is no exact list of items, as they depend on the financial capabilities of the wife or the groom, what is important is that the gifts come in pairs.

More than jewels that signify financial capacity, noodles (misua), eggs, rounded fruits, cakes, and sweets are also exchanged. Noodles in the Chinese culture have always signified longevity. The eggs, on the other hand, symbolize fertility in the hopes of building a family in the future. Fruits symbolize wealth, while the cake and sweets signify a sweet start for the couple.

The gifts are wrapped in containers with “喜喜” stickers on top. This is called the Sanghee, which expresses double happiness.

Planning a Tinghun

Presently, Tinghun is not as frequently observed in China anymore. However, traditional Filipino – Chinese families still practice the ceremony. Tinghuns are usually held at the house of the bride as it is the groom’s time to formally ask for the woman’s hand for marriage. Presently, the ceremony can now be held at hotels and restaurants for easier set-up and preparation.

Fortunately, Century Park Hotel, one of the leading hotels in Manila, offers engagement packages which can make planning your Tinghun easier which start at Php. 370,000. The package already includes two pairs of engagement cakes, cha mi sua, special tea, sweet boiled eggs and many more items in the Tinghun checklist.

To know more about the package and Century Park Hotel’s Chinese Lauriat menu, please call (+632) 528 – 8888 or 0917-528-5888, or email information@centurypark.com.ph.

Booking a venue is one thing, preparing the event is another. In fact, there are even professional bridal consultants who can help in arranging the ceremony.

Tinghun is just one of the many of the many rituals done to preserve and celebrate the Filipino – Chinese culture and identity, but there are also other traditions woven into the daily lives of the Filipino-Chinese which are also worth discovering.

Five Benefits of a Staycation

Five Benefits of a Staycation

Staycation, a combination of the word “stay” and “vacation” is not a new concept. It is simply when one chooses to stay at their home country or check-in at a hotel, instead of going abroad for vacation. A staycation or holistay, as defined by Wikipedia, is also a period in which an individual participates in leisure activities within driving distance of his or her own home. Lately, the trend has been increasing as more numbers of people now find more peace by spending time at home and have some needed rest and relaxation. More than that, staycations also offer a lot of quiet and humble benefits.

1. Staycations save time

Living in the Philippines means having to battle at least 3 hours of travel going from home to work and vice versa. Just imagine how much worse the traffic can get when it is a drive going to the airport! More than that, long airline terminal queues also eat up a significant part of a traveler’s day. Add all the hassle of traffic, terminal queues, departure procedures, etc. One day could easily be wasted on preparation.

2. Staycations are good for the environment

Checking in at a hotel also means contributing less to your carbon footprint! You would not have to use airplanes which require a massive amount of carbon emissions. Staying in a hotel is less harmful to the environment and really just pampers you to the core.

3. Staycations give time for meditation

Our fast-paced lifestyle limits our time to meditate and value the importance of rest. Taking a break during a staycation allows you to spend your energy on your body and use it as a time for spiritual, emotional, and physical rest and healing.

4. Staycations can inspire

Having some down time also gives you a chance to explore more ideas. Quiet times away from chaos can generate fresh ideas and inspirations that can later be turned to productive projects.

5. Staycations save money

Staycations also save a huge amount of money. You need not worry about spending so much on food, budgeting travel expenses, and expensive air fares. All staycations really ask of you is to stay put and rest at your own terms.

Century Park Hotel welcomes the year of the Earth Pig

Century Park Hotel welcomes the year of the Earth Pig

Manila, Philippines –Century Park Hotel (CPH), one of the finest hotels in Manila, is set to welcome the Year of the Earth Pig with a bang.

Preparations are underway to celebrate the eve of the Lunar New Year on February 4, 2019. This occasion is one of the loudest and most festive in Chinese culture.

Sumptuous Chinese dishes will be showcased at the lunch and dinner buffet (P1,495 net) at Café in the Park for guests craving for Chinese cuisine.

Then at 7:00PM, an eye-dotting blessing ceremony will take place before the lion’s first dance at the Atrium Lounge. The ritual will empower the lion to bring about protection, good luck, health, and prosperity to the attendees. The “eyes” of the lion reflect the spirit so the last step before it comes alive is for its eyes to be dotted. A lion and dragon dance follows right after to chase away evil spirits and welcome the new year. This performance will be accompanied with loud drums and cymbals.

A grand fireworks display will cap off the momentous occasion.

“We look forward to having all of you at the hotel and share this evening with us,” said Anthony Tan, CPH’s General Manager. “May the Year of the Pig bring prosperity and good health to everyone,” he further added.
